Mosaic Provides Chip & PIN To Marks & Spencer

Mosaic Software announced that they have entered into a contract with Marks & Spencer. Mosaic Software will provide EMV Card Payment software for the retailer's Chip & PIN solution in the UK, Channel Islands and Eire stores.

Marks & Spencer will use Mosaic Software's 'Postilion for Chip and PIN' solution, which allows cost-effective migration to support EMV compliant chip card readers as well as secure PIN processing at the POS. The Postilion for Chip and PIN solution allows full-stand-in at the POS using off-line PIN with EMV chip cards. The Postilion payment-processing platform will be used centrally to switch payment transactions to all Marks & Spencer acquirer banks for authorisation.

Marks & Spencer expects to participate in the Chip and PIN town trial to be held in Northampton in early 2003. Peter Forbes, Manager Store Financial Operations said, "The move to Chip and PIN is a major change to the till point operation for our customers and staff colleagues. We are committed to ensuring that we are ready with a solution which helps us to serve our customers better and is an easy move for our staff."

Johann Dreyer, CEO of Mosaic Software comments, "Mosaic Software is able to support the retail market in the UK with our Postilion for Chip and PIN solution which is fit for purpose and addresses a crucial need in the market at present. Marks & Spencer is a leading retailer in finding a solution for EMV Chip and PIN, and we are pleased to be working with them on this exciting project."
