Datacard Expands Healthcare Offerings With FormFast
Datacard announced it has entered into an OEM agreement with FormFast for the US healthcare market. Under the agreement, Datacard will integrate FormFast's forms automation software with Datacard's industry leading card solutions to provide hospitals and other healthcare organizations with a simple, easy-to-use patient identification and forms automation solution.
The integrated solution will be sold exclusively through Datacard outside the US via its worldwide distribution channels. Datacard and FormFast have agreed to jointly sell the forms automation software within the US healthcare market.
"There's great demand for easy-to-implement solutions that reduce costs, improve the quality of care and protect patient privacy," said Martin Kearsley, Senior VP and GM of Datacard's solutions group. "The Datacard/FormFast solution addresses all those needs and provides seamless integration with legacy systems."
The forms automation solution allows users to replace expensive preprinted forms with electronic forms, then store them as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or HTML documents. When a form is needed, users simply populate the electronic template by swiping a patient ID card through a magnetic stripe reader, downloading information from a database or entering data with a keyboard. Forms can then be printed, faxed, e-mailed or stored.
"Users will experience immediate cost savings by greatly reducing the need for preprinted forms," Martin said. "Instead of paying to produce and manage large forms inventories, the entire process becomes electronic. The ROI is tremendous, because a typical hospital can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on preprinted forms."
In addition to cost savings, the forms automation solution helps improve patient care by minimizing data entry errors, improving patient medical record privacy and speeding admissions and other administrative processes.
Edward Novak, Director of Corporate Development at FormFast said the agreement integrates the power of two proven industry innovators. "The solutions we are bringing to market are a perfect fit for healthcare's most pressing issues," Novak said. "Together we will help identify new ways to reduce costs, improve outcomes and strengthen patient loyalty."
