Datacard Introduces OnDemand Labels Version 3.0

Datacard introduced an enhanced version of its OnDemand Labels solution for healthcare information management. Version 3.0 offers several enhancements, including a more intuitive user interface, broader system compatibility and an exclusive tool for label design and setup.

Using magnetic stripe technology, the OnDemand Labels solution increases the utility of an embossed card by cost-effectively issuing patient labels and wristbands in any quantity, at any time. Staff members simply swipe a card through a reader to capture data and print information directly onto the surface of a wristband or label. This capability conserves wristband and label stock, significantly reduces data entry errors and replaces often-illegible imprinting technology with accurate, legible direct-thermal and thermal-transfer printing. In addition, numerical data fields can be printed as bar codes on wristbands or labels to track patient activity across a hospital or clinic.

The compact footprint and the value price of the OnDemand Labels solution, enables healthcare enterprises to install an OnDemand Labels solution at every remote nursing hub and workstation throughout their facilities.

The new label design tool offered in version 3.0 is also fully compatible with the Datacard 295 card personalization system, creating a convenient technology bridge for healthcare facilities already using the 295 system to issue embossed patient cards.

"Version 3.0 makes an even stronger case for OnDemand Labels as the patient ID and information management platform of choice," said Kent Shields, Senior VP and GM of Datacard's hardware division. "In addition to efficiently designing and issuing wristbands and labels using embossed patient cards, it offers an affordable way for those using Datacard embossing systems to add magnetic stripe and bar code technology to their operations."
