JCB Singapore's First Mall-Wide Smart Credit Card

JCB, Bugis Junction and United Overseas Bank jointly launch the Bugis Junction JCB Card recently, the first credit card to offer benefits and savings from all the retail tenants in an entire shopping center in Singapore. Traditionally perceived as a credit card brand for the Japanese, JCB is poised to take on a larger share of the Singapore credit card market.

The launch of the Bugis Junction JCB Card is just one step in a wider strategy that will roll cards out addressing specific payment areas.

Yukio Sawada, JCBI Singapore GM said, "Our aim is to offer our partners support not available elsewhere, and to establish our relationship with the local market through synergistic collaboration with our partners."

"Currently, the Singapore credit card market is a mature one, and people hold several cards to their name. We are confident that the market is ready for a fresh, Asian brand that they can identify with," says JCBI Singapore's Manager of Co-Brand Products, Tan Yang.

"JCB is not just about offering something unique, but something relevant. The Bugis Junction JCB Card is the first credit card in Singapore that not only offers a point-based loyalty programme on IC Chip but discounts and
privileges from an entire shopping center and a hotel establishment."

"It is also the first card to be personified by a specially-created mascot, Mizu, which is a character inspired by the famous Bugis Junction interactive fountain. 'Mizu' means water in the Japanese language. Right now, there are lots of co-brand cards but none offering value as extensive as the Bugis Junction JCB Card" he adds.

The Mizu loyalty programme is the first credit card programme implemented mall-wide in Singapore. Cardholders can accumulate Mizu points on IC Chip to redeem exciting rewards, ranging from exclusive gifts to Seiyu shopping vouchers. Cardholders also enjoy double Mizu points on their birthdays and exclusive birthday treats, including exclusive room rates at InterContinental Singapore.

Also, with the discounts offered by numerous participating outlets in Bugis Junction, Cardholders no longer need to wait for specific sale events to save, but be able to do so all year round. Retailers in Bugis Junction will also benefit as the card creates a loyal base of shoppers for Bugis Junction.

"In line with our commitment to offer shoppers a unique shopping experience, the Bugis Junction JCB card is an exciting proposition which is relevant not only to the shoppers and office tenants, but to our retail tenants. It will make us truly a shopping centre of choice in Singapore" said Tong Kok Wing, GM of PARCO Bugis Junction.
