137,000 CashCard Users Checked Their Card Expiry
Since November 1, 2002, over 137,000 CashCard users have checked their cards’ expiry dates via three simple methods: Website, SMS and calling NETS Call Centre. Network for Electronic Transfers Singapore (NETS) is encouraging other CashCard users to follow suit as up to 800,000 cards are due to expire by June 1st, 2003. The NETS Call Centre has received over 19,000 expiry checking phone calls. The SMS application has received nearly 50,000 queries. The website expiry application has received about 68,000 queries.
Holders of expiring CashCards can take advantage of immediate availability of new CashCards printed with the date of issue. With a normal, five-year validity period, users of the new CashCards will know at a glance when their cards are going to expire. To make replacement of expiring cards as simple as possible, NETS is working with 7-Eleven convenience stores and Esso and Mobil petrol stations to assure availability of the new CashCards at selected outlets.
As many as 800,000 cards will be expiring over the next three months, as they reached the end of their five-year validity periods. Five-year validity ensures that CashCards are retired before physical wear and tear causes damage and also that circulating cards have current software and security features. NETS GM & Group Head, Commercial, Chan Kah Khuen, said, "We are committed to making life as simple as possible for users of the six million CashCards in circulation. Introduction of new cards printed with the issue date and a choice of ways to easily check card expiry help to ensure that people can always use their CashCards with complete confidence."
